In the event of a forced school closure, for a prolonged period of time, home learning for pupils is provided in the following ways:
Seesaw learning platform
Our teachers set work for their pupils and publish these tasks on Seesaw. All the children have previously used Seesaw and are familiar with how the site works. The learning includes Powerpoints, video clips recorded by our teachers, written instructions, different styles of worksheet and ways to present learning as well as links to other resources such as Purple Mash and Oak Academy.
Class teachers will provide a suggested timetable to help families structure each day.
Teachers will also help and encourage pupils with the work set. Pupils can message their teacher with any questions and teachers will be marking and commenting on pupils submissions.
During school closures teachers also use Teams to keep in touch with their class. In Reception and KS1 the teachers provide live lessons including phonics, maths, guided reading and fun form time quizzes. In KS2 there is an introduction to the week via Teams and a Friday form time where the week is reviewed and pupils have an opportunity to keep in touch with the other pupils in their class.
Weduc is our whole school secure communication system. Every family has registered for the app or web portal and is regularly receiving communication from school via in-app messages and email. News items are regularly posted on the secure Weduc Newsfeed. All letters, notices and links to other useful resources can also be easily accessed via the app or web portal. Weduc also has a built in booking/payment function for clubs, wrap-around care and school trips. During school closure, there is a weekly Congratulations Assembly video shared via Weduc, celebrating the children's achievements at home and in school and highlighting different aspects of our school curriculum.
Our class teachers and the school office have individual emails addresses which are readily available to families and can be used to contact staff. These are responded to during normal school office hours.
