Maths

Follow the link to the website and there is a short video explaining the activities for each day

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/

These activities are all inspired by the book 'Supertato' by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet and you can share the story on you tube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rze89HB9u8g

English

Weekly news - Draw a picture and write about what you did in the Easter Holidays.

Share the 'Supertato' book together.

Talk about:

What happens in the story?

Which character do you like and why?

Who was the villain in the story?

Hot seat the different characters  - One person pretends to be Supertato and the other person has to ask him questions about the story e.g How did you catch the pea? How did you feel when you fell in the freezer?

Draw a story map and retell the story in your own words.

Looking at the Text:

Find the full stops, capital letters and question marks. Are there any other punctuation marks?

Writing

Draw a picture of your favourite vegetable and write labels to describe it.

Add another vegetable into the story and write about what the pea does to it.

Reading

If you have read the reading books from school and need some new books go to the oxford owl website and choose from the free e-books.

https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/

The books are linked to the book band system that we use at school and in reception most children will be choosing from either red or yellow. It is a good idea to read the same book several times so that the children build up accuracy, fluency and then comprehension.

There are also some very good phonics resources and video lessons if you log on to the read write inc section of the website.

Art - cut up different vegetables and use them as printing blocks with paint to make your own patterns and pictures

Cooking - make vegetable soup together

Modelling - make you own pea trap out of recycled materials

Science - plant some vegetable seeds

What do plants need in order to grow?

Music

Here is a fun action song to learn! Follow the link below and enjoy making up your own actions.

I've got to shake, shake, shake my sillies out,
Shake, shake, shake my sillies out,
Shake, shake, shake my sillies out,
And wiggle my waggles away!

I've got to clap, clap, clap my crazies out,
Clap, clap, clap my crazies out,
Clap, clap, clap my crazies out,
And wiggle my waggles away!

I've got jump, jump, jump my jiggles out,
Jump, jump, jump my jiggles out,
Jump, jump, jump my jiggles out,
And wiggle my waggles away!

I've got to yawn, yawn, yawn my sleepies out,
Yawn, yawn, yawn my sleepies out,
Yawn, yawn, yawn my sleepies out,
And wiggle my waggles away!

I've got to shake, shake, shake my sillies out,
Shake, shake, shake my sillies out,
Shake, shake, shake my sillies out,
And wiggle my waggles away!
